Public Hearings & Comment Periods

The Commission welcomes and encourages public input on utility rate and siting cases and proposed rules and regulations. There are two ways for citizens to participate in the formal regulatory process. The first is to attend a public hearing. The second is to submit a comment during the open comment period. CenturyLink requests a change in how telephone directories are distributed Docket 16-UTDT-568-MIS
The Kansas Corporation Commission is seeking public input on CenturyLink's request to waive the regulatory requirement of automatically distributing printed telephone directories to all customers. Under the proposal, most customers will continue to receive a printed directory automatically, while others will receive one upon request. The Commission is accepting public comments on the proposal through 5:00 p.m. on July 21, 2017.

Empire requests to recover costs for Riverton 12 generating unit Docket 17-EPDE-280-TAR
Empire District Electric Company (Empire) has filed an application with the Kansas Corporation Commission requesting approval to replace its existing environmental rider, which recovers costs for the Asbury generating station, with a new rider that would also include cost recovery for the Riverton 12 generating unit. Under the proposal, a residential customer using about 1,000 kilowatt hours per month will see an incremental increase of $5.50 on monthly bills.

The Commission is accepting public comments on the request through 5:00 p.m. on June 19, 2017.
